TCR Thailand came to an end at Buriram’s Chang International Circuit, where Pasarit Promsombat (RMI Racing SEAT León) and Chariya Nuya (Billionaire Boys Racing Honda Civic) claimed one victory apiece.
While Promsombat had already won the Pro title after the previous event, victory in Race 2 meant that Nuya clinched the Am title ahead of Morin Racing’s lady driver Nattanid Lewattaravanagul (SEAT León).
The first race was a solo ride for Promsombat. After making a bad start from pole position that dropped him to third behind Nuya and Lewattanavaragul, the RMI Racing driver jumped into the lead on lap 2, after a close battle with Nuya.
He then pulled away, while Nuya and Rattanin Leenutaphong (Yontrakit Racing SEAT León) were fighting for second place; Lewattanavaragul was trying to recover after making a mistake and hit Nattachak Hanjitkasen (TBN MK Ihere Racing Honda Civic), sending him into a spin. This resulted in a drive-through penalty that dropped the lady driver to fifth.
The second race was delayed as torrential rain began falling during the warm up lap, while all drivers were on slicks. Proceedings resumed after the tyre change and the race finally started behind the safety car on a flooded track.
Pole sitter Lewattanavaragul took command, while Nuya was recovering from fourth on the grid. On lap 5, Nuya overtook Lewattanavaragul for the lead and on lap 9 the lady driver made a mistake and lost second place to Promsombat. Hajitkasen beat Leenutaphong in a close fight for the fourth position.
