TCR China – Huang wins the long race

Huang Chu Han and his NewFaster Team Audi RS3 LMS won TCR China’s one-hour Race 3 at Zhejiang. The Elegant Racing Team SEAT León of Henry Ho and Kenneth Look finished second, ahead of the TeamWork Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI shared by Jean-Karl Vernay and Alex Hui.
At the start, Vernay took the lead from the pole but went wide at T3 and dropped to second behind Andy Yan (New Faster Audi). Stian Paulsen (Elegant Racing SEAT) was chasing the leaders, overtook Huang for third place on lap 1, Vernay for second on lap 3 and stole the lead from Yan on lap 4.
The Norwegian led the race until half distance, when the safety car was deployed after Deng Bao Wei rolled his Audi at T1.
Everybody used the neutralization to observe the mandatory pit stop and when the race resumed, Look was leading from Huang, Yan and Filipe de Souza (TeamWork VW).
With 20 minutes to go, on lap 22, Huang overtook Look for the lead. The fight for second was decided on lap 24, when de Souza lost control and hit Yan who spun. Look was therefore save in second, while Alex Hui inherited third when Alex Fung (TeamWork VW) pitted for changing a front tyre.
TCR China’s next event will be at Ningbo on October 28 and 29.
