TCR cars parade in Tbilisi’s historic centre

Georgian fans and the city of Tbilisi gave the warmest of welcomes to the TCR International Series community today in a public event in the historic centre of the beautiful capital city.
The very first international motorsport event ever to be hosted in the country is generating massive attention from media, fans and the public at large.
On a warm spring afternoon, the Rose Revolution square was the focal point of the event that allowed Georgian fans to get in close contact with TCR. Six cars were displayed, one per brand represented: Alfa Romeo, Audi, Honda, Opel, SEAT and Volkswagen. All the International Series drivers attended an autograph session and were available for media interviews. The event also allowed TCR to link to the road safety awareness campaign promoted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs that has Davit Kajaia as its ambassador.
The highlight of the day was a parade through the city centre of the six cars, driven by local hero Kajaia, the reigning champion Stefano Comini, Roberto Colciago, Pierre-Yves Corthals, James Nash and Jean-Karl Vernay.
Escorted by police motorcyclists, the convoy paraded through Rustaveli, the city’s main avenue, down to Freedom Square and back, receiving enthusiastic greetings from a large crowd that thronged the footpaths.
