Qualifying - What the drivers had to say

Stefano Comini: “Finally, I made it! It’s great to conquer my first pole of the year, especially here at Singapore. It was difficult, but it’s done. The car was great, I felt comfortable with it since the beginning. I tried to preserve my tyres in Q1, doing only one flying lap, and that paid off. We’ll see what happens during tonight’s race, my impression is that the lighting is really good, but still it will be a tough race, as the walls here are quite close.”

Gianni Morbidelli: “I couldn’t do much better, I was always at the limit, and sometimes over. The handling of the car is not good. Everybody was saying that our cars were going to be unbeatable on the straight, you see it is not the case. The race will be tough for us, although on a street circuit, races are always special and unpredictable. Racing at night adds another difficulty, of course, as what you see may be quite different from usual, because of the shades and changing references.”

Kevin Gleason: “I’m happy with my result, especially after Q1, which was very difficult for me. I struggled with the car balance, with traffic, with everything… We made a few changes for Q2 and they worked. For the race, it is very difficult to make any plan.”

George Chou: “I am very happy of this TCR Asia pole I took, given the difficult track. It was not my primary objective, as I focused mostly on learning from yesterday’s mistakes and progressing.”
