Practice 2 – Vervisch learns fast!

He may be debuting in the TCR International Series and at the wheel of a front-wheel drive car, but Frédéric Vervisch seems to learn fast, confirming the reputation he earned in GT racing. The Flemish driver of the Comtoyou Audi signed the fastest lap time in the dying seconds of the session, with a time of 2:31.903 that was the only time breaking the 2min32sec wall.
Second fastest, half-a-second behind, was Jean-Karl Verney (2:32.490 in the Leopard Racing Volkswagen Golf GTI), followed by Maxime Potty (2:32.527 in the Michaël Mazuin Sport Volkswagen), Guillaume Mondron (2:32.629 in the Delahaye Racing Team SEAT), Rob Huff (2:32.661 in the second Leopard Racing Team WRT Volkswagen) and Attila Tassi (2:33.042 in the M1RA Honda Civic). All these five drivers provisionally topped the rankings, in a quite entertaining session.
Mat’o Homola (2:33.093) ranked seventh in the DG Sport Compétition Opel Astra, while his teammate Pierre-Yves Corthals completed only three laps before pitting with a steering problem.
There were a number of warnings given, for non-respect of track limits; as this happened repeatedly for Huff and Tassi, they were both summoned to race direction after the session.
GE-Force’s Dušan Borković and Davit Kajaia spent most of the day shaking-down their cars, which are new. The engine and turbo were changed on Kajaia’s car before this event, and the Georgian used the day to shake down the package, not going further than P16, while the Serb's engine was affected by electrical problems, which prevented him to make a single clean fast lap.
The Qualifying session will take place tomorrow at 13:05, followed by the first race at 17:25; both will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.com and www.tcr-series.tv.
