TCR International Series to support DTM in Hungary

The date for the TCR International Series event at the Hungaroring has been put forward to 17/18 June, in the frame of the DTM’s third round.
The series’ sixth race meeting in Hungary had ben originally scheduled for 1/2 July.

TCR promoter Marcello Lotti explained: “We have decided to bring forward the Hungaroring event because of logistics reasons. The original schedule, with back-to-back race meetings in Budapest and Oschersleben would have involved a trip of nearly one thousand kilometres for the teams’ trucks. Racing at the Hungaroring one week after Salzburgring will reduce the driving to six hundred kilometres. And on top of this, being with DTM will add a lot of glamour to the event.”

ITR CEO Florian Zitzlsperger, echoed: “The TCR International Series represents an asset to the DTM support programme at the Hungaroring. The close-to-production TCR touring cars represent the perfect addition to the DTM high-tech racers and the spectacular Formula 3 European Championship single seaters, thus making for a multifaceted weekend that provides the crowds with enthralling motor sport aplenty.”

It is quite possible that Hungary’s Touring Car star Norbert Michelisz will take part in the TCR races at the wheel of a Honda Civic run by his own M1RA team.
“We are working together with the Hungaroring, M1RA and JAS Motorsport to let this happen. Norbert’s presence alongside Attila Tassi and Ferenc Ficza would surely attract a large crowd for the race day,” Lotti said.
