Michael Choi stakes a claim on TCR Asia title

Prince Racing’s driver Michael Choi has staked a serious claim on becoming the first TCR Asia champion following the series’ rounds 5 and 6 that took place in Thailand.
Five weeks after winning both races at Singapore, at the wheel of his JAS Engineering-built Honda Civic TCR, Choi focused on adding more points to his tally in the TCR Asia standings and managed to stretch his leading margin to 28 points ahead of Asia Racing Team’s Philippe Descombes, a double winner of the series’ opening event at Sepang. However, because Descombes is not expected to take part in the Macau finale, Choi is just a few steps away from grabbing the title.
The closest competitors for him are Roadstar Racing’s Filipe de Souza (third with 55 points) and Samson Chan (fourth with 49 points).
Asia Racing Team is currently leading the Teams’ championship with 210 points. The results achieved by its drivers Tin Sritrai and Kevin Pu in Buriram, enabled the Chinese squad to increase their margin further, virtually relegating Prince Racing (152 points) and Roadstar Racing Team (147) to the fight for the second place.
