TCR promoter Marcello Lotti has paid a visit today to the Italian Touring Car Championship in Misano, where he met the ACI Sport management and the drivers who compete in the series’ main category and in the TCR Trophy Europe.
"I have been impressed, because even in its first season the Italian Championship is already at a very good level. I have seen professional teams and experienced drivers, but there is also room for the amateur approach. This is possible because the TCR regulations combine performance with affordable running costs," said Lotti, who added: "Another interesting aspect of TCR is that the teams may think about programmes and commercial opportunities that are not limited to their own country. They are also able to aim for international programmes and this will contribute to the future growth of the Italian championship as well as all the other TCR national series.”
