James Nash will return to touring car racing in the Macau Guia Race, the closing event of the TCR International Series. The young Englishman will be at the wheel of a Ford Focus run jointly by Proteam Racing and FRD Ford HK Racing Team.
The Macau round will mark Nash’s return to touring cars after he spent the two previous seasons in GT racing: the Blancpain Endurance Series and the British GT Championship.
However, the 29-year old from Milton Keynes obtained his best results while driving saloon cars, notably in the British and the World Touring Car Championships. In 2011 he scored one victory in the BTCC, finishing fifth overall and winning the Independents’ Trophy; in 2013 he did even better in WTCC, with two race wins that gave him a brilliant third place in the Drivers’ Championship and victory in the Independents’ Trophy.
"I've been watching TCR develop over its maiden season and the success is amazing. Joining the championship with the Ford team is a great opportunity and racing at Macau is always special. I can't wait to meet the team and have my first few laps in a TCR car," said Nash.
