In one of the closest-ever finishes for the TCR International Series’ Hawkers Fan Award, Tom Evans, chief mechanic at Craft-Bamboo Lukoil, beat his colleague Arnauld Libois of Leopard Racing.
Evans and Libois were nominated after the season finale at Macau for the great work done on the cars of James Nash and Stefano Comini respectively.
If Libois made a crucial contribution in delivering a car that took Comini to his second title, Evans was no less diligent in the preparation of Nash’s car throughout the season.
But the dedication and professionalism with which he oversaw the repair of the #54 SEAT in the short time between the two races at Macau, enabling Nash to start Race 2, eventually made the difference.
"I would like to thank all the fans that voted for my nomination, and everyone in the background at Craft-Bamboo for aiding us to get James back out on track in Macau, particularly our No1 Mika, it was a really great team effort indeed!" Tom Evans said.
The final score in the voting was: Evans 52.1% and Libois 47.9%.
