Corthals defends his lead at Jerez de la Frontera

The sixth and penultimate round of the TCR Trophy Europe takes place this weekend at Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, in the frame of the TCR Portugal race meeting.
Local drivers will form the majority of the field, with Veloso Motorsport’s Francisco Carvalho/Nuno Batista (who share the same SEAT León car) and their teammate Francisco Mora (also in a SEAT León) who are currently leading the TCR Portugal standings split by four points only.
Besides fighting against their regular Portuguese competitors such as José Rodrigues (Honda Civic) and the pairings of Rafael Lobato/César Machado (SEAT León) and Manuel Gião/Francisco Abreu (Volkswagen Golf), they will also face a trio of international guest racers.
The Belgian duo of Pierre-Yves Corthals and Fédéric Caprasse will be at the wheel of the DG Sport Compétition Opel Astra they race in the TCR Benelux. Corthals is currently leading the TCR Trophy Europe with a margin of six points ahead of a group of seven drivers that includes his teammate Caprasse.
Antti Buri from Finland, a regular front-runner and race winner in the TCR Germany will also take part in the event at the wheel of a LMS Racing SEAT León.
Track action will begin on Saturday with two 30-minute Free Practice sessions at 09:30 and 11:10; two 15-minute Qualifying sessions will follow at 13:40 and 14:00 to establish the grid positions for the two races that will be run on Sunday at 10:05 and 16:30, with duration of 25 minutes each.
