Another 1-2 for Honda in the Super Taikyu

The second round of the Super Taikyu endurance series took place yesterday at Sugo. This time the cars of the ST-TCR class raced in Group 1 together, with the GTs, over a distance of three hours. This meant they could not compete for the overall victory.
Just like in the season opening at Motegi, the Team DreamDrive Audi RS3 LMS shared by Shozo Tagahara, Takuya Shirakasa and Naoto Takeda led in the first part of the race, but then dropped down following an incident.
The Modulo Racing Project Honda Civic Type-R driven by Shinichi Ito, Shinichi Ebisawa and Shinji Nakano inherited the lead and won the class, finishing a brilliant eighth overall, eleven laps behind the winning Nissan GT-R.
Second in the ST-TCR class and ninth overall was classified the Motul Dome Racing Project Honda of Hiroki Kato, Keiji Ishikawa and Takuya Kurosawa, that crossed the line only 48 seconds behind the sister car. The Team DreamDrive Audi completed the podium in third position.
The third round of the Super Taikyu Series will take place at Suzuka on 11 June.
