In 2017 the TCR Trophy Europe will be awarded in a one-off event, with a change of format compared to 2016.
At the end of the season, on October 28th and 29th, the best TCR drivers from all over Europe will gather in Italy, at the Adria International Raceway, to fight for the European crown.
In 2016 the Trophy was based on the results of seven race meetings that were part of TCR national championships in Benelux, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Russia. Pierre-Yves Corthals eventually emerged as the winner at the wheel of a DG Sport Compétition Opel Astra.
To be eligible to take part in the 2017 Trophy, a competitor must have either been a full entry in one of the TCR national series in Europe or must have taken part inthe European rounds of the TCR International Series. The latter will be granted special conditions for the entry fee.
The format of the race meeting could potentially be different from TCR standards, with the possible introduction of Qualifying races and a longer Final race. This will depend on the number of entries.
“I can’t wait to see all the best drivers from the different TCR series in Europe facing each other in the Trophy Europe final. The event in Adria will be the perfect advertisement for the ever-growing TCR brotherhood among the different series, ”TCR promoter Marcello Lotti explained.
Mario Altoé, Director of the Adria International Raceway echoed: “This will be one of the most important events we have ever had. We have followed with interest the successful growth of TCR and we are very proud and excited by the idea of hosting the European final. We have proved in the past that our racetrack suits Touring Car competition and we will do our very best to create a unique event that will attract a large number of fans.”
