Qualifying - What the drivers had to say

Gianni Morbidelli, pole sitter: “I am very happy, everything went beyond expectations. I thought we would be in the mid-2.16 but was not expecting to be seventh faster than that. The car was very well-balanced and I had a lot of grip. I saved the new tyres for today and everything went well. I must say I am extremely impressed by the professionalism of WestCoast Racing, they really work very methodically and efficiently.”

Mikhail Grachev, qualified 4th: “Not a bad qualifying at all, although it was impossible to follow the Honda cars on the straights. It took me three full laps to warm-up the tyres, it is really difficult on this track to have them reaching the ideal temperature, especially the rear ones. But after that I could do an excellent lap time and further improving it, using the slipstream of one of the SEAT cars. Fourth is very good, considering that I didn’t know the track and we are still discovering the Audi TT.”

Pepe Oriola, qualified 5th: “I did a good qualifying and the car was behaving well, but there was nothing we could do against the Honda cars, they were simply faster.”
